Ready to decorate!

Fin

The design of the fin was picked because it adds more stability to the rocket. and of course josh in the background.

Nose cone

we researched that heavier nose comes work better because it helps keep the rocket straight in flight and also keeps it in balance.

Design and Construction

We decided on using 3 fins so it wouldnt become to heavy . We chose the shape we did to decrease as much drag as possible. We decided to add clay to the top of the cone to inrease the rockets mass. We are using a rounded cone to create less drag.

Research Summary Day 1

I learned that :
  • Prabolic nose cones Work much better because they decrease wind drag.
  • It is better to use less then 4 fins because it decreases weight and drag.
  • It is good to add more volume to your rocket.

Initial Observations

Full 2 liter bottle- it didn't go very high, spun turned, came right back down
Half 2 liter bottle- went a little higher, spun, flipped, and turned
1/4 2 liter bottle- went straight up, flipped over, drifted with the wind to the right or left, and all the water came straight out leaving fog in the bottle
